Equipment Transfer Services (With Peace of Mind, Free of Charge)

If you are searching for a reliable heavy equipment shipping company, your first concern should be the insurance coverage of the companies you are considering. Hiring a freight company that doesn’t guarantee strong coverage can mean costly damages to your equipment that won’t be reimbursed. At ETS, we insure all heavy equipment transports by the carrier, and every one of our transport operators has a valid cargo policy that can give you the peace of mind you deserve. This is in line with the requirements of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.

Cargo and equipment transport insurance can be complicated and difficult to understand. To help you in decoding what you should be looking for in your heavy equipment shipping company, here are a few helpful hints:

Cargo insurance policies are in place to cover any and all damages that occur to your cargo during the pick-up, transportation and delivery of your cargo. This includes damage that occurs because of neglect by the driver as well as any damage that might occur with the natural jostling of your cargo. All damage that occurs would be addressed and taken care of by the cargo policy of the carrier.

All of our drivers carry a minimum of $100,000 in coverage, with some carriers carrying insurance that covers up to $5,000,000 in damages. There may be a minimal charge involved if you are named directly on the insurance policy.

Pre-existing damages are inspected and recorded prior to loading by the driver. It is often in your best interest to make a list of any damages you are aware of, and take pictures of the equipment before and after. It is our policy to request that all drivers take digital photos of any equipment they transport, but it is often the case that drivers don’t carry a device that is capable of taking digital photos. Thus, it is to your benefit to make a personal record as well.

Upon delivery, the driver will fill out a condition report, also known as a bill of lading, and will give you the opportunity to voice any observations of possible damage you notice that wasn’t evident prior to transport. In the event that damage has occurred to your equipment, we will get to work immediately to ensure that you are reimbursed.
